Last week, the 4th Court of Appeals published the court’s mission statement. Some state agencies’ mission statements are provided by statute. See, e.g., Tex. Gov’t Code § 493.001 (statutorily providing TDCJ’s mission statement).

Chapter 22 of the Texas Government Code provides appellate courts’ functions, but does not provide a statutory mission statement for the values and vision in how appellate courts will strive to best fulfill their statutory functions.

According to the TxCourts.gov website, the 4th Court is the only Texas appellate court to have published such a mission statement. The full text of the mission statement is below and accessible here.
